Joe Thottungal named Community Builder COVID-19 Hero

Joe Thottungal is well-known as the award-winning chef behind Ottawa’s Coconut Lagoon and Thali restaurants. He was named Community Builder COVID 19 Hero by United Way Eastern Ontario and Apt 613 on June 13, 2020.

Joe is now known for inspiring and leading others to make a difference in their community. During COVID-19, Joe dedicated Thali’s kitchen to making food for homeless families. Since the pandemic began, he has donated his time and restaurant to make more than 1000 meals a day for people living in shelters without cooking facilities
